Ben and his band performed at Tosa Tonight in 2021 and have only since gained in power, presence, and artistic honesty.

Ugandan-born and raised artist now residing in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Ben’s thought-provoking lyrics and a diverse range of musical inspiration have been described as Afro-soul rock that takes on a unique storytelling quality. The full band brings a dynamic and high-energy quality that builds on the soulful presence of his solo performances.

We confess to being big fans of Ben and his band and if it weren’t for the deep well of great artists who reach out to us every season, we’d enjoy booking him every summer. But if we did do that, we’d have a hard time making room for legendary performers like our headliner for the evening: The Samples!

Formed in 1987 in Boulder, Colorado, The Samples quickly rose to national prominence, launching their first tour in 1988 and establishing a signature sound that seamlessly blends reggae, rock, and folk.  With a career spanning nearly four decades, the band has cultivated a lasting legacy, drawing fans in with their infectious rhythms and deeply introspective songs, releasing over 20 albums across both independent and major labels, earning placements in films, documentaries, Netflix series, and MSNBC election coverage.

At the center of it all is lead singer and frontman Sean Kelly, whose steady presence has remained the driving force behind The Samples, preserving the heart and integrity of the music. Known for his distinctive high voice and deeply expressive songwriting, Kelly has a rare ability to capture stories, emotion, and the human experience in a way that resonates across generations. His work possesses an evocative, timeless quality, continuing to captivate both longtime fans and new listeners alike.

It’s tempting to describe this night of music as “The best of yesterday and the best of today,” but let’s be honest, it’s simply “The Best”!
